Sung Y. Yoon
Sung Y. Yoon is a Managing Partner of KTB Ventures. Based in Palo Alto and Beijing, Mr. Yoon is focused on the information technology sector with emphasis on the communication and semiconductor space. Since 1994, Mr. Yoon has led KTB's investments in 41 companies in the United States such as Xylan/Alcatel, Copper Mountain Networks (CMTN), Alteon Websystems/Nortel, Sonus Networks (SONS), Centillium Communication (CTLM), Terayon (TERN), IC Works/Cypress, Polyfuel (PYF), Airespace/Cisco and Berkana Wireless/Qualcomm. He is active as a board member or a board observer of companies under KTB’s current investment portfolio including Beceem, Inphi, Rosum, 5Square and CNK Technology.
Mr. Yoon previously served as the CEO of a search engine company, Wisenut, prior to its successful merger with Looksmart Ltd. (LOOK). He also managed the cross-border acquisitions of KTB's portfolio companies in Korea, Internet Auction by eBay (EBAY) in 2001, JobKorea by Monster (MNST) in 2005, Integrant Technologies by Analog Devices (ADI) in 2006 and FCI by Silicon Motion (SIMO) in 2007. Prior to managing KTB's investments in the U.S., he managed KTB's investments in the Asia Pacific region.
Mr. Yoon advises the Korean government on venture capital and the nurturing of technology startups in Korea. Mr. Yoon is fluent in English, Korean and Mandarin.
Ho Chan Lee
HoChan Lee has been focused on investments in the areas of online entertainment, Internet services and digital media. He is actively engaged in IGA Worldwide, Meebo, Rosum, Staccato Communications, and Stoke among KTB’s current portfolio companies. Prior to KTB ventures, HoChan had been a management consultant at Booz Allen Hamilton, engaging in the various business and strategy development projects at major Korean companies. His clients included mobile operators, fixed line telcos, and information technology service providers. He also worked for PricewaterhouseCoopers Management Consulting Service, participating in valuation and M&A deals of high-tech companies. He received an MBA from Haas School of Business at University of California, Berkeley and a BS in Business Administration from Seoul National University. HoChan is a CFA Charterholder.
Seung Hee Choi
Dr. Seung Hee Choi focuses on e-learning and Internet investments. Prior to joining KTB Ventures, she was with Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute in Korea. At the ETRI, she worked on market analysis and demand forecasting of wireless service in Korea. She was a Korean representative at the Organization of Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). At the OECD, she was a member of IT working group and Telecommunications Service working group. She was also involved in forming policy framework to facilitate electronic commerce and broadband service in Korea. Earlier, she was a lecturer in Economics at Stanford University and Santa Clara University. Seung Hee graduated from Seoul National University with a B.A. degree in Economics and received an M.A. in Statistics and a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of California, Berkeley.
